The conception of a pan-European peace order in the "Ostpolitik" of the SPD/FDP coalition government in the years 1969-1974
The concept of a pan-European peace order was developed in the 1960s by SPD politicians Willy Brandt and Egon Bahr and soon afterwards accepted by the whole party. The FDP also included it in the Eastern policy agenda. In 1969-1974, this concept was the general framework for the Ostpolitik of the federal government of the SPD/FDP coalition. The purpose of this study is to explain the genesis of this concept and to present its real impact on the Ostpolitik of the Federal Government SPD/FDP at that time.
