Artykuł poświęcony jest możliwościom, jakie daje zastosowanie metodologii teorii niskiej - zaproponowanej przez Jacka Halberstama w książce Przedziwna sztuka porażki - do analizy powieści Władca Pierścieni J.R.R. Tolkiena. Tekst przede wszystkim pokazuje, jak Władca Pierścieni może służyć jako przykład, gdy podejmuje się zagadnienia teoretyczne z perspektywy odmieńczej polityki, a także alternatywnych form uprawiania wiedzy. W ramach tak nakreślonej metodologii autor artykułu proponuje trzy szkice poświęcone pytaniu o to, czego jeszcze można nie wiedzieć o Śródziemiu, w których skupia się na marginaliach tekstu pierwotnego, a także odnosi się do dzieł innych autorów powstałych na kanwie Władcy Pierścieni.

This article is focused on the possibilities provided by the application of the low theory methodology proposed by Jack Halberstam in his book The Queer Art of Failure to the analysis of J.R.R.Tolkien’s novel The Lord of the Rings. The text primarily illustrates how The Lord of the Rings can act as an example when theoretical issues are taken up from the perspective of queer politics as well as alternative forms of producing knowledge. Within the framework of the methodology thus outlined, the author of the article proposes three sketches devoted to the question of what else one might not know about Middle-earth, in which he focuses on the marginalia of the original text and also refers to the works of other authors based on The Lord of the Rings.
