Poet's and painter's agon : poetic polemics on the example of the "Painters of Holland" by Adam Zagajewski - teaching suggestions

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie propozycji dydaktycznej przygotowanej wokół wiersza "Malarze Holandii" Adama Zagajewskiego z tomu "Ziemia Ognista" (1994). Utwór, będący nietypową ekfrazą - uznany za A. Dziadka za przykład hypotypozy - został odczytany na tle szerokiej panoramy holenderskiego malarstwa 17 w. Lekturę i analizę wiersza ujęto w ramy poetyckiej polemiki, co umożliwiło między innymi wprowadzenie współczesnego kontekstu krytyki postkolonialnej. Zastosowano różnorodne narzędzia dydaktyczne (w tym materiały e-learningowe, ćwiczenia z zakresu kreatywnego pisania), mające służyć jako funkcjonalne wsparcie procesu interpretacji.

The aim of the article is to describe methodology of the reading and interpreting a poetic ekphrasis - Painters of Holland by Adam Zagajewski from the volume of poetry titled Land of Fire (1994). A broad spectrum of paintings from the 17th century Netherlands is engaged to unravel the verse’s visual context. The notion of polemics is used as a key to interpreting the piece of poetry, which also enabled the introduction of the modern context of the postcolonial critique. Diverse educational implements presented in the article, e.g. e-learning materials, exercises in creative writing, serve as a functional support of a process of interpretation.
