Access to cultural heritage for people with hearing disabilities through selected cultural institutions in Cracov

Tematem niniejszej pracy jest dostęp do dziedzictwa kulturowego dla osób zniepełnosprawnością słuchu na przykładzie wybranych krakowskich instytucji kultury. Praca zbudowana jest z dwóch części. W pierwszej części porusza definicje, które jednocześnie zarysowują jej sfery problemowe: objaśnia definicje terminów takich jak dziedzictwo kulturowe czy kultura, analizuje także te terminy przez wymiar uznania oraz pokazuje różne możliwości postrzegania dziedzictwa oraz jego role. W części tej zawarta jest także historia emancypacji osób głuchych, która zrodziła się w opozycji do wykluczenia osób z niepełnosprawnościami, a także opis fenomenu Kultury Głuchych, który jest najważniejszym spoiwem społeczności osób z niepełnosprawnością słuchu. W tej części pracy zostały opisane także rozwiązania prawne zastosowane przez instytucje kultury, które udostępniają swoje zasoby oraz obiekty uwzględniając dostępność dla wszystkich zainteresowanych. Druga część pracy jest analizą trzech wybranych krakowskich instytucji kultury pod względem dostępności ich zasobów dla osób z niepełnosprawnościami, w tym z niepełnosprawnością słuchu. Praca składa się z trzech rozdziałów opatrzonych wstępem, zakończeniem oraz bibliografią. Rozdział pierwszy przedstawia pojęcie kultury oraz dziedzictwa, definiuje grupę do jakiej należą osoby głuche oraz jej najważniejsze elementy takie jak język migowy, normy, wartości oraz zachowania, a także opisuje Kulturę Głuchych. Omawia także emancypacyjną historię osób głuchych. Rozdział drugi prezentuje rozwiązania prawne mające na celu zwiększenie dostępności instytucji kultury dla osób z niepełnosprawnościami, w tym dla osób głuchych. Prezentowane rozwiązania omawiane są na poziomie międzynarodowym, aktów prawnych UE, kampanii UE, rozwiązań prawnych a także inicjatyw państwa polskiego. Rozdział trzeci opisuje działania udostępniające zasoby dziedzictwa dla osób z niepełnosprawnościami realizowane przez trzy krakowskie instytucje kultury: Muzeum Krakowa (na przykładzie wystawy pt. Podgórze Wojciecha Weissa), Muzeum Narodowe na przykładzie zbiorów Muzeum Książąt Czartoryskich oraz Muzeum Armii Krajowej. Rozdział zawiera także dane zebrane podczas wizyt w tych instytucjach, w tym zdjęcia, które prezentują̨ działania oraz sposób prezentacji obiektów dziedzictwa przez te instytucje.

The subject of this work is access to cultural heritage for people with hearing disabilities through selected cultural institutions in Cracow. The work consists of two parts. The first part deals with definitions and outlines the problem areas: explains the definitions of concepts such as cultural heritage and culture, analyses them in terms of recognition, and explains the different possibilities and roles of cultural heritage. This section also contains a history of the emancipation of the deaf, which arose in opposition to the exclusion of people with disabilities, as well as a description of the phenomenon of the deaf culture, one of the most important elements of the society of people with hearing disabilities. This part of the work also describes the legal solutions applied by cultural institutions that make their resources and facilities available, considering accessibility for all interested groups. The second part of the work analyses three selected cultural institutions in Cracow and focused on the accessibility of their resources for people with disabilities, including the deaf. The work consists of three chapters with an introduction, a conclusion, and a bibliography. The first chapter describes the concept of culture and heritage, defines the group of the deaf and its main elements such as sign language, norms, values, and behaviors, and describes the culture of the deaf. This chapter also deals with the emancipatory history of the deaf. The second chapter presents legal solutions aimed at improving access to cultural facilities for people with disabilities, including the deaf. The solutions presented are discussed at the international level, EU legislation level, EU campaigns, legal solutions, and initiatives of the Polish State. The third chapter describes the activities that make heritage accessible to people with disabilities, carried out by three cultural institutions in Cracow: The Museum of Cracow, The National Museum in Cracow, and The Museum of the Home Army. The chapter also includes data collected during visits to these institutions, including photos showing the activities and presentation of the cultural heritage sites by these institutions.
