Samobójstwo

Niniejsza praca prezentuje złożoną i szeroką problematykę dotyczącą zjawiska społecznego jakim jest samobójstwo. Ażeby przybliżyć fenomen zagadnienia, konieczne było wskazanie na etymologię, genezę oraz trudności definicyjne pojawiające się w literaturze polskiej i światowej. Istotnym okazało się także ukazanie tła historycznego oraz rozwoju pojęcia na przestrzeni wieków, posługując się jednocześnie definicjami autorów będących przedstawicielami zróżnicowanych nurtów i dziedzin nauki. Tym samym podkreślono interdyscyplinarność zjawiska samobójstwa. Celem uwypuklenia wielopłaszczyznowości omawianego pojęcia, posłużono się omówieniem wyodrębnionych kategorii czynu suicydalnego – tj. samobójstwa rozszerzonego, poagresyjnego, samobójczego zamachu terrorystycznego, samobójstwa wspomaganego oraz samobójstwa zbiorowego (masowego). W ramach przywołanych typów przedstawione zostały podstawowe jego właściwości, ukazano specyfikę i cechy charakterystyczne każdego z nich, a także najistotniejsze odmienności. Można zatem wskazać, iż niniejsza praca służy przedstawieniu gestu suicydalnego z różnych perspektyw i w zupełnie innych konfiguracjach. Dodatkowo, zważając na wystąpienie pandemii COVID-19, uzasadnione było ukazanie – choćby pokrótce – na wpływ zachorowań na statystykę popełnianych samobójstw oraz podkreślenie braku możliwości oszacowania prawdopodobnych konsekwencji jakie nieść ze sobą będzie pandemia w zakresie zaburzeń psychicznych oraz ewentualnych postpandemicznych samobójstw.

This thesis presents the complex and wide-ranging aspects concerning the social phenomenon of suicide. In order to present the phenomenon of this issue, it was necessary to indicate the etymology, genesis and definitional difficulties appearing in Polish and world literature. It was also important to show the historical background and the development of the concept over the centuries, at the same time using the definitions of authors who are representatives of different trends and fields of science. Thus, the interdisciplinary nature of the phenomenon of suicide was emphasized. In order to highlight the multifaceted nature of the concept in question, a discussion of separate categories of suicidal acts - i.e. extended suicide, post-aggression suicide, terrorist suicide, assisted suicide and collective (mass) suicide - was used. Within the framework of the referred to types, its basic properties are presented, the specifics and characteristics of each of them are shown, as well as the most significant dissimilarities. Therefore, it can be pointed out that this work serves to present the suicidal gesture from different perspectives and in completely different configurations. In addition, given the occurrence of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was justified to show, if only briefly, the impact of the disease on the statistics of suicides committed and to emphasize the impossibility of estimating the probable consequences that the pandemic will bring in terms of mental disorders and possible post-pandemic suicides.
