Woman – the author of translation : about Polish female translators of Russian literature

The article presents prefatory results of the researches which main aim is to analyze the female participation in translations of Russian literature into Polish. The given hypothesis assumes that the awareness of professional readers in relation to the female translators' participation in acquiring Russian literatureto Polish is very small in comparison with the awareness concerning translations made by men. That is why, the author of the article considers the factors which may influence this situation. Data such as the level of women's translational activity, the critical and research reception of concrete female translations are mentioned. On this basis it can be asserted that women have translated many literary works that influenced Russian literary history process.
