O komentarzach Pawła Lubienieckiego do Biblii

The purpose of this article is to present (and partially evaluate) the methods of argumentation used by Paweł Lubieniecki in his book "Wygadywania i zarzuty filozofów teraźniejszego wieku przeciw wierze w posiedzeniach czynione i odpowiedzi na nie" in defense of the truth of the biblical message and the fundamental Christian dogmas, which, in his opinion, can be explained rationally. The focus firstly centers on selected issues from the Old Testament, mainly the Book of Genesis, such as the creation of man, original sin, the longevity of the first patriarchs, and the possibility of God’s interactions with humans. Subsequently, the article discusses comments on significant problems conveyed in the New Testament, such as the resurrection, the divinity of Christ, life after death, and finally the meaning of each phrase of the Lord’s Prayer and each of the Eight Beatitudes from the Gospel according to St. Matthew. The philosophical context of Lubieniecki’s views is highlighted, including scholasticism, primarily St. Augustine, as well as selected issues of the Enlightenment thought, such as those of Voltaire or Jean-Jacques Rousseau.
