Φιλομμειδὴς Ἀφροδίτη : essays in ancient art and archaeology in honour of Ewdoksia Papuci-Władyka
This book is a collection of 35 articles, essays and memoirs dedicated to one of the most eminent Polish classical archaeologists - Professor Ewdoksia Papuci-Władyka. During her prolific career she has been setting directions and trends in Polish research on classical civilizations by initiating new projects and excavations at important sites such as Koshary in Ukraine, Halasarna on the Greek island of Kos, Thelpousa in Greece and Nea Paphos in Cyprus. The book includes not only texts devoted to various aspects of the archaeology of Cyprus, the Black Sea region, and the Mediterranean as a whole but also more personal recollections. While pottery is the dominant theme, there are articles on ancient urbanism, architecture, methodology, and numismatics as well, and those from a historical perspective, analysing written sources or iconographic issues. This volume is a testimony to the wide recognition of Ewdoksia Papuci-Władyka's achievements by her students, colleagues and friends.
