Madness and literature : around Jerzy Krzysztoń’s "Obłęd"
This is an interpretation of Jerzy Krzysztoń’s novel Obłęd, usually read as an insight into the mind of a person suffering from mental problems, or as a record of the collective psyche of Polish society in the late 1970s. This Foucauldian interpretation focuses on narrative paradoxes and clichés, understood as signs of the abusive treatment of mad people in modernity. The author concludes that the medical discourse perpetuated in the novel prevents any dialogue between madness and reason.
Autor proponuje odczytanie "Obłędu" Jerzego Krzysztonia w perspektywie Foucaultowskiej, skupiając się na kliszach i paradoksach narracyjnych.
