The Home Army Stanisławów district

This chapter presents the history of the Stanisławów ZWZ-AK district during World War II. In his text, the author not only tried to present the activities of individual elements of the Polish conspiracy in this area, which were directed against the Soviets, Germans, and Ukrainians, but also attempted to reconstruct the personnel of its individual structures. Interestingly, in his considerations he did not omit such an important and relatively unknown phenomenon as the history of Polish self-defense in this area. It was thanks to self-defense soldiers that large concentrations of Polish people in this area managed to survive. Finally, the author presented the course of Operation Storm and attempts to recreate conspiratorial structures in the conditions of the new Soviet occupation. He also pointed out that many Home Army soldiers, after the occupation of these areas by the Soviets, took up service in the so-called istriebitiel battalions whose task was to protect the local population from terror by the UPA.

W niniejszym rozdziale ukazane zostały dzieje okręgu Stanisławów ZWZ-AK w latach II wojny światowej. W swoim tekście autor nie tylko starał się przedstawić działalność poszczególnych ogniw polskiej konspiracji na tym terenie, która była skierowana przeciwko Sowietom, Niemcom, Ukraińcom, ale także podjął próbę odtworzenia obsady personalnej jej poszczególnych struktur. Co ciekawe w swoich rozważaniach nie pominął też tak ważnego i stosunkowo mało znanego zjawiska jak dzieje polskiej samoobrony na tym obszarze. To właśnie dzięki żołnierzom samoobrony, zdołały przetrwać duże skupiska polskiej ludności na tym terenie. Na zakończenie autor przedstawił przebieg Akcji Burza oraz próby odtwarzania struktur konspiracyjnych w warunkach nowej sowieckiej okupacji. Zwrócił również uwagę, że bardzo wielu żołnierzy AK po zajęciu tych terenów przez sowietów podjęło służbę w tzw. istriebitielnych batalionach, których zadaniem była ochrona miejscowej ludności przed terrorem ze strony UPA.
