Muzea uczelniane : dzieje, kolekcje, działalność : model ochrony kolekcji i tworzenia jednostki muzealnej w strukturze szkoły wyższej na przykładzie Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego

The work introduces the specificity of museums and para-museum units located in the structures of universities. The main goal is to characterize museums and collections. The author has adopted a broad perspective that takes into account examples of university museums from around the world to show trends in their formation and development. On this basis, the types of museums and collections, the context of their establishment, perception and basic definitional and organizational problems accompanying them will be determined. The comparison and outlining the historical background are aimed not only at bringing closer the specificity and particularity of university museums but are also an attempt to build greater awareness and recognition for the phenomenon, role and achievements of this environment. This specific group of museum units, however, brings together many dilemmas that result from their location at the junction of two realities – scientific and cultural, which raises a number of research problems. The dissertation consists of three chapters. The starting point was to outline the global genesis of university museums and draw attention to the problematic and unique nature of these museum units. In the next part, the situation of the Polish environment of university museums and academic collections is presented, and then one of the models of academic heritage protection considering various forms of museums and organizational formulas of units in the structure of the university is presented

Muzea uniwersyteckie to dynamicznie rozwijający się segment instytucji kultury, ściśle powiązany z misją naukową i edukacyjną uczelni wyższych. Stanowią one przestrzeń, w której spotykają się nauka, dziedzictwo i społeczne zaangażowanie środowiska akademickiego. Ich potencjał wynika z unikatowych zbiorów, interdyscyplinarnego zaplecza oraz głębokiego zakorzenienia w kulturze – zarówno materialnej, jak i niematerialnej uniwersytetu. Niniejsza publikacja ukazuje fenomen muzeów uniwersyteckich poprzez pryzmat działalności Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego – najstarszej polskiej uczelni – w kontekście krajowym i międzynarodowym. Analizując definicyjne, organizacyjne i instytucjonalne aspekty funkcjonowania tego typu jednostek, autorzy podejmują refleksje nad rolą muzeów w strukturach akademickich oraz ich miejscem w ochronie i upowszechnianiu dziedzictwa naukowego i kulturowego. To interdyscyplinarne studium, wzbogacone analizą porównawczą wybranych polskich i zagranicznych przykładów, stanowi ważny głos w dyskusji o miejscu uczelni w systemie ochrony dziedzictwa naukowego i kulturowego. Książka skierowana jest do muzealników, akademików, decydentów oraz wszystkich zainteresowanych współczesnym obliczem uniwersytetów
