The topos of atonement based on George Trakl`s poem "Nightsong"

In case of Trakl, awareness of entanglement in worldly realities was not only articulated in his creative activity, but also it had its background in genuinely experienced decline. Taking this into consideration, I wish to analyse this interpretation in terms of the references of the poem to Judeo-Christian religious tradition. It should be emphasized that taking them into account allows to classify the text as a representative example of modernist poetry, the constitutive features of which include the references to the elements of religious thinking, religious rituals and manners to express them. The philosophical foundation of this lyric poetry is the feeling of a metaphysical loss of certainty and settlement in the world.

W przypadku Trakla świadomość uwikłania w doczesne realia nie artykułowała się jedynie w jego twórczej działalności, lecz miała swoje podłoże w autentycznie przeżywanym upadku. Mając to na uwadze, pragnę poświęcić niniejszą interpretację analizie odniesień wiersza do judeochrześcijańskiej tradycji religijnej. Należy przy tym podkreślić, że ich uwzględnienie pozwala zaklasyfikować tekst jako reprezentatywny przykład poezji modernistycznej, do której konstytutywnych cech należą odwołania do elementów myślenia religijnego, religijnych rytuałów i sposobów ich wyrażania. Światopoglądowy fundament tej liryki stanowi poczucie utraty metafizycznej pewności oraz zadomowienia w świecie
