Z sejmem czy bez sejmu? : konflikt o prywatne żupy solne na sejmie grodzieńskim w 1718 roku
The article presents the conflict over the "Kunegunda" royal salt well run by the Lubomirski
family in the early modern period. As a part of state endeavours to regain control over salt
mining in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, a royal commission decided to close down
the well operated by the Lubomirski family. The latter decided to bring the issue to public
discussion at the next convening of the sejm. Thus, the minor issue of a privately operated
salt well was discussed by the deputies, pushing aside problems concerning the entire state.
Eventually, the problem was set aside after an initial short debate, giving ground to more important
discussions.
