Presented text is devoted to metaphysics of distinguished Russian thinker. It focuse on the theme of freedom and its place in the objective world. The freedom is discussed in the aspect of its connections with human person (Russian personalism). Analysis deal with two opposites of considered thought: (l)meonic freedom (pre-ontological stage). (2) intraworld necessity (ontological stage). The integrity of Berdyaev’s basic intuition concerning the meonic source of freedom stretches itself to the philosophy of culture and foremost conveys itself in the religious thought. The religious character of Berdyaev’s thought springs from existential experience of primordiality of freedom (nothingness) towards being. Freedom understood in such away acquires the features of Absolute and becomes the sanction of human sovereignty in the objectified world. The essential issue taken up in this study is the attempt of presenting the symbolic structure of the world. Symbolism is treated here as the endeavour of dialectical explanation of Berdyaev’s primary opposition, that is to say: freedom and necessity (transposition of opposing poles: non-being and being).
