Wykaz Polaków wypromowanych na Uniwersytecie w Bolonii w drugiej połowie XV w.
During the second half of the fifteenth century Polish students frequently arrived
to North Italy in order to obtain doctoral degrees. The author analysed this phenomenon
at the university of Bologna. Pertinent research shows that during the
titular period the university in question was a prime academic centre and the destination
of Poles seeking doctoral diplomas. The article presents a list of 21 Poles
promoted in Bologna during the second half of the fifteenth century, with each
biogramme containing an outline of a career after receiving the degree. Studies in
Bologna were chiefly an element of a Church career. As a rule, the courses were
attended by persons who already possessed a Church prebend, for whom a doctoral
degree offered the perspective of a further and greatly promising career.
