LOWER-SILESIAN CENTER FOR AGRICULTURAL WHOLESALE IN WROCLAW AS AN EXAMPLE OF MODERN RURAL INSTITUTION (Dolnoslaskie Centrum Hurtu Rolno-Spozywczego we Wroclawiu jako przyklad nowoczesnej instytucji okolorolniczej)

A process of forming of wholesale markets was based on a program proposed by the government. Its intention was to create a new model for commerce that will bring the producer closer to the recipient. This kind of markets were meant to be the main stimulant for both organizing, ordering and concentrating the agriculture production, as well as for improving the quality of goods and their standardization. 27 wholesale markets were created till 1999. The Lower-Silesian Center for Agricultural Wholesale in Wroclaw (DCHRS) was one of five more than regional corporations that benefited many million zloties from public funds. At first the corporation only planned the directions of development and investment. Gradually it started also preparing new sale places and technological lines for packing and sorting fruits and vegetables. 72% of all customers of DCHRS were the inhabitants of the Lower Silesia. Besides selling agriculture products, DCHRS arranged flower workshops and shows. Wholesale market of flowers and garden accessories became the biggest in Poland, when taking into consideration the area. These goods were 27,4% of whole supply of the market. In spite of problems related to the difficult economic situation in Poland in 1990s and the collapse of the financial stability of DCHRS in the first period of its existing, it was one of the most modern and one of the best organized Polish wholesale market.
