Ceremonial and family vocabulary in nuptial songs from the collection 'Lud Bialoruski' by M. Federowski and in 'Atlas Gwar Wschodnioslowianskich Bialostocczyzny' (Atlas of the East-Slavic Dialects of the Bialystok Region)

The article concentrates on the items of the ceremonial and family lexis in Belarussian nuptial songs published in the collection 'Lud bialoruski' (Belarussian Folk) by Michal Federowski and in Atlas Gwar Wschodnioslowianskich Bialostocczyzny (Atlas of the East-Slavic Dialects of the Bialystok Region). Both collections partly share the territory, however, there is a 70-years time difference between them. From the comparison of the ceremonial and family lexis in these collections a conclusion can be drawn that words denoting persons participating in the wedding ceremony, such as 'swat' (matchmaker), 'druzko' (best man), 'swanka', 'druzka' (bridesmaid) did not undergo during these 70 years any significant changes. Words denoting the degree of affinity, such as 'swiekier' (father in law), 'swiekrucha'. Instead of old word like 'zalwica', 'dziewier', 'jatrouka' more often are in use 'szwagier' (brother in law), 'szwagierka' (sister in law), 'bratawaja', 'bracicha'.
