Charakterystyka wybranych zasobów genowych pomidora

The collection of genetic resources of genus Lycopersicon currently in-cludes 1411 accessions. Twenty three tomato accessions originating from Po-land and Syria, with regards to 42 morphological and economic traits according to IPGRI descriptor list, is presented. These traits include 10 traits of plants and 32 traits of fruits. The following important characteristics of fruits were de-scribed: size, shape, firmness, colour, intensity of greenback, ribbing, easiness of detaching from the pedicel, cross-sectional shape, thickness of pericarp, number of locules, as well as growth type and susceptibility to diseases. The examined accessions exhibit great variation of the investigated traits and can constitute a source of earliness, fruit firmness, thick pericarp, colour intensity, fleshy homogeneity, and other useful traits. Some of the investigated accessions can be a valuable material in the breeding of cultivars for amateur production and for processing. The tomato collection is designated to preserve the genetic resources from disappearance and to identify valuable traits for breeding and other investigations.
