Lactation pattern and milk performance of the cows due to duration of the first lactation period were analysed. Significant effect of this period duration on lactation curve and milk yield was stated. Early breeding of primiparous cows to achieve apparently good herd reproduction performance was disadvantageous. The authors suggested as appropriate to delay the time of breeding, even up to 120 days after parturition - such management may stimulate production potential of the cows and improve their milk production efficiency.
