Non-deterministic relationship between the diameter and fall velocity of natural raindrops

Empirical drop size distribution data are presented in this paper. Study site was located in Wroclaw city (SE Poland). Disdrometric measurements were been carried out with use of laser monitoring system during single rainstorm on 09 June 2007. Empirical natural rainfall drops size distribution was described by a classical gamma function. Relationship between the drop diameters and its fall velocity for the natural rainfall is also studied with use of new technique based on the joint distribution function.

W pracy przedstawiono empiryczne rozkłady wielkości kropel deszczu naturalnego. Dane dysdrometryczne pochodzą z pojedynczego opadu odnotowanego 9 czerwca 2007 na terenie Obserwatorium Agro- i Hydrometeorologicznego Wrocław-Swojec. Empiryczny rozkład wielkości kropel został opisany rozkładem gamma. W pracy przedstawiono również relację między wielkością (średnicą) oraz prędkością kropel deszczu naturalnego metodą opartą na dwuwymiarowym rozkładzie łącznym.
