What Mamardashvili means for development of the philosophic thought in Ukraine? - that was the content of the conversation. Merab Mamardashvili is an outstanding philosopher of the Soviet times born in Georgia. His childhood was connected with Ukraine, while his activity was connected both with Moscow and Tbilisi. In the opinion of M. Popovich he was a 'Man of the world'. Philosophy became the essence of his life. A tree as the image of the world is the model of being, around which his thought was turning. M. Mamardashvili comprehended philosophy as the public consciousness that is the consciousness aloud, which must never 'stop in its tracks in deference' to anything. Principles of the philosophic works by Mamardashvili are connected with analysis of the converted forms of consciousness. When discussing the role of intellect in human life he stepped beyond the limits of purely Cartesian outlook to the realm of axiology. The priority of Man's value itself was the fundamental principle of Mamardashvili's philosophical ethics. Being one of the most competent professors of the School of Young Philosopher in Alushta (Ukraine), M. Mamardashvili had an irrefutable influence on formation of the current philosophic community of Ukraine.
