Azbest - narażenie i skutki zdrowotne

W artykule przedstawiono problemy zawodowej, parazawodowej i środowiskowej ekspozycji na włókna azbestowe. Jak wynika z badań klinicznych i epidemiologicznych, narażenie na pyły azbestu jest związane z rozwojem pylicy azbestowej, raka płuca oraz nowotworów opłucnej i otrzewnej. W pracy przedyskutowano możliwe mechanizmy tych chorób. Przedstawiono także zapadalność na azbestozależne choroby zawodowe w Polsce i ryzyko nowotworowe przy różnych scenariuszach narażenia.

This paper presents the health effects of occupational, para occupational and environmental exposition to asbestos fibres. Both clinical and epidemiological studies have shown that exposition to asbestos dusts is associated with asbestosis, lung cancer and tumors of mesothelial and peritoneal tissues. In the article the possible mechanisms of these diseases are discussed. The incidence to occupational asbestos-related diseases in Poland, and carcinogenic risk for different exposure scenarios are also presented.
