The two types of track structure: including the layer of ballast and without ballast, are used at high speed rails in the relation to the plans of building of new line in Poland have been discussed in the paper. The importance of proper preparation of rail subgrade has been pointed out and the ways how to strengthen the layer of ballast has been presented.
