Możliwość przekwalifikowania odpadu na produkt uboczny lub utraty statusu odpadu w myśl ustawy o odpadach z dnia 14 grudnia 2012 r. może przynieść wymierne korzyści dla producentów kruszyw. Przeanalizowano możliwość zastosowania drobnoziarnistych odpadów mineralnych w postaci mączek kamiennych, jako dodatku do betonu typu I (kruszywo wypełniające) oraz przedstawiono wyniki własnych badań betonów z dodatkami mączek melafirowej, bazaltowej i wapiennej
