System zarządzania środowiskowego jako narzędzie realizacji polityki środowiskowej sektora obronnego

This article deals with environmental management systems (EMS) according to international standards of ISO 14000 series and it touches on the following problems: what the environment is, how to protect it, expected advantages of EMS implementation, EMS requirements and steps to develop and implement the EMS. Natural environment is a life support system. Adopting such a term allows to avoid the question whether to protect or not the environment and allows to focus on the problem how to protect it. Any activity has an influence on the environment, the effects may be positive, but most often they are negative. When we conduct our every day activities, we have to take into account also a global dimension of environmental effects our actions cause. Also the defence sector has to fulfil assigned environmental requirements unless it has a negative impact on our defence capabilities.
