Funkcjonowanie współczesnych łańcuchów dostaw zależy przede wszystkim od transportu samochodowego. Powstaje pytanie, jak długo taka zależność będzie występowała. Odpowiedź na nie może mieć decydujący wpływ na przyszłe konstrukcje logistycznych łańcuchów dostaw. W niniejszym artykule zaprezentowane zostały rozważania dotyczące istoty współczesnych łańcuchów dostaw, syntetycznej charakterystyki polskiego transportu samochodowego ładunków realizującego łańcuchy dostaw, a także zagadnienia wymagań jakościowych wobec tej gałęzi transportu, które mogą skutkować zmianą koncepcji logistycznych określających rolę transportu samochodowego w funkcjonowaniu współczesnych łańcuchów dostaw.

Operation of contemporary delivery chains depends to a large degree on vehicle/ road transport. There appears a question, however, for how long such dependence is going to occur. This is a significant question since the answer may influence the future of logistic delivery chains constructions. The following article presents the speculations referring to the current issues related to delivery chains, synthetic characteristics of Polish road transport operating in delivery chains as well as the issues of quality requirements in the field of transport which may result in the change of logistics concepts specifying the role of transport in the operation of current delivery chains.
