The settlement of the Baden culture at site Pietrzejowice 14, Kocmyrzów-Luborzyca commune. Results of the archaeological and archaeobotanical analyses of the materials from the 2021 excavations
Rescue excavations conducted at site Pietrzejowice 14 in the commune of Kocmyrzów-Luborzyca revealed a settlement of the late classic phase of the Baden culture (3100–2900 BC). The material recovered from ten features consisted of fragments of ceramic vessels (829 fragments), spindle whorls and their fragments (three pieces), and flint artefacts (six pieces). The focus of this study is the characterisation of the morphology and decoration of the ceramic vessels. In addition, an archaeobotanical analysis was carried out, which revealed plant remains in charred and mineralised forms. The cultivation of emmer wheat (Triticum dicoccon) is attested by caryopses and chaff of this cereal. Remains of wild herbaceous plants have also been found. The anthracological material is dominated by oak (Quercus sp.).
