Strengths & weaknesses of the customised turbocompressor modernisations

The paper summarises the experience in customised modernisations of turbocompressors. Observations are based on circa 20 individual modernisation projects perfomed by TURBOSERVICE. A customised modernisation shall mean a task of technological changes which have to be made in the used compressor in order to satisfy specific needs of its user. This task is different from the modernisations performed by compressor manufacturers as changes or modifications in the entire range of compressors In the latter case the producer's response to the possibility of modernisation of the user's compressor may only be positive if the client 's needs suit the technical parameters of the entire modernised range. One of the major benefits of the compressor modernisation for its user is such a modernisation project which does not require modification of the inactive elements of the compressor, in particular its body. Tuus all modernisations performed by TURBOSERVICE were limited to the replacement of the rotor and only in some cases the additional exchange of diffusers was necessary.
