How the blockchain technology is changing supply chains
Blockchain is one of today’s most hyped themes and stands as a preeminent topic of the beginning of this century. It represents a myriad of technologies and devices that can be associated with many aspects of business reality. Linking it to supply chain, can be a formidable transformative force to address the bottom line by improved efficiency and traceability, as well as introducing greater differentiation and innovation. The aim of this article is to provide information on blockchain technology, especially in the context of supply chain management. The method of analysis of the literature and practices of companies that are leaders in the use of this technology was used. Main conclusions: blockchain can be used in the supply chain to improve material flows, strengthen the trust of business partners and secure transactions. However, there are still many barriers to implementing this technology in the supply chain, such as: economic conditions, technological limitations or legal regulations.
Technologia blockchain jest obecnie jednym z najbardziej rozwojowych narzędzi wspomagających funkcjonowanie przedsiębiorstw. Oferuje liczne możliwości, które można powiązać z poszczególnymi aspektami rzeczywistości biznesowej. Skorelowanie technologii blockchain z łańcuchem dostaw może być potężną siłą transformacyjną, umożliwiającą podniesienie jakości i poprawę wydajności procesów, a także asumptem do wprowadzania i rozwoju innowacji. Celem artykułu jest zidentyfikowanie obszarów, w których blockchain może wspierać łańcuchy dostaw. Zastosowano metodę analizy literatury przedmiotu oraz praktyk firm, które są liderami w wykorzystywaniu rzeczonej technologii. Główne wnioski: technologię blockchain można wykorzystać w łańcuchu dostaw, m.in. do usprawnienia przepływów materiałów, wzmocnienia zaufania partnerów biznesowych oraz zabezpieczenia transakcji. Nadal jednak istnieje wiele barier we wdrażaniu tej technologii, np. uwarunkowania ekonomiczne, ograniczenia technologiczne czy regulacje prawne.
