Validation of Pedestrian Velocity

Pedestrian velocity is the parameter necessary in majority of traffic accidents reconstruction analysis results with pedestrian. Available literature refers to pedestrian velocity researches from the ‘70s and ‘80s of the twentieth century. Since then the characteristic of a typical pedestrian has significantly changed. The following question is appearing: Have the pedestrians velocities significantly changed because of this fact? In the destination of the answer to the question investigations of pedestrians motion during crossing the road in real urban traffic conditions were prepared. It was defined the range in which the pedestrians velocity was included and there was made the attempt to parametrize the temporal courses of velocity to be applied in typical spatio-temporal analyses of traffic accident with pedestrian.
