In the article I review the most significant garden shows and festivals in the world, and classify them depending on the profile of the exposition and the manner of their implementation. I focus on the assets of the german garden shows and present the overview of their organization. I draw attention to the fact that the main objective of the garden shows in Germany is to revitalize and improve the quality of public spaces. Moreover, the organization of these venues stimulate the local economy and activates local communities. I discuss this year's Federal Garden Show BUGA, which is unusual in many respects. For the first time it was organized in five towns within the two German states of Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt. In conclusion, I consider the chances of the implementation of similar garden show concept in Poland.
