Possibilities of using bottom ashes from the combustion of sewage sludge in cement concrete

The search for alternative materials that can replace the basic components of concrete is one of the most important directions of scientific research in recent years. The article presents the results of research on the use of bottom ash generated as a result of thermal treatment of sewage sludge in concrete in one of the Polish incinerators. Changes in the mechanical and thermal properties of cement concretes were described in which the cement was replaced with bottom ash in the following amounts: 0, 10, 20 and 30% of the cement volume. The tests carried out showed the possibility of using bottom ash from the combustion of sewage sludge in structural concrete.

Poszukiwanie alternatywnych materiałów mogących zastąpić podstawowe składniki betonu to jeden z najważniejszych kierunków badań naukowych ostatnich lat. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań zastosowania w betonie popiołów paleniskowych powstających w wyniku obróbki termicznej osadów ściekowych w jednej z polskich spalarni. Opisano zmiany właściwości mechanicznych i termicznych betonów cementowych, w których cement został zastąpiony popiołem paleniskowym w ilości: 0, 10, 20 i 30% objętości cementu. Przeprowadzone badania wykazały możliwość stosowania popiołów paleniskowych ze spalania osadów ściekowych w betonach konstrukcyjnych.
