Architekt - demiurg świata odpadów

The paper presents the housing situation in Poland in respect of the actions to be taken and the potential results of the reduction in the amount of generated wastes. The volume and the rate of wastes reduction may depend, to a considerable extent, on the decisions and awareness of architects. Taking up renovation activities without an unnecessary delay, organisational skills resulting from the modem systems of resources management will either make the matters worse or it will make the designers account for the problem of wastes in their work. The author hopes that the designers will use the creative potential of the principle of sustainable development and that the acceptance of environment-friendly technologies accounting for wastes management in town organisation is just a matter of time.
