The article discusses legal aspects of managing e-learning platforms in schools and universities. The authors focus on legal regulations of personal data protection in e-learning platforms in Poland. In most cases e-learning platforms are managed by network administrators who are not aware of legal regulations which they should follow. To the best of our knowledge one can find a variety of publications concerning technical and administrative aspects of e-learning platforms but no analysis has been performed concerning legal aspects of deploying and managing e-learning platforms. In this article we indicate the most important issues which e-learning platform administrators should be aware of.
