The paper presents the utility of Building Information Modeling in the context of historical, as well as in terms of its definition and characteristics. Moreover the use of Building Information Modeling for costing, inventory, as well as in the life cycle of the facility and the executive phase are described. In summary the paper refers to the main advantages and disadvantages of the tool and perspectives of its further applications.
