Using FEM method in optimization proces of mechatronic design

The problem of optimization is very important in design process of any mechatronics system. This paper deals with combination of Finite Element Methods with optimization procedure in design process. Two different kind of optimization will be shown in this paper. In the first example the genetic algorithm method is used for optimization of magnetic clutch FE model. The second example shows using of Ansys topological optimization procedure for design optimization of contact force vector sensor.
