Impact of the functioning of the territorial defence forces on the sense of security of employees of the Ministry of National Defence in Dęblin garrison on the example of the ZEA Stawy

Organized since 2016, the Territorial Defence Forces are today an equally important type of the Polish Armed Forces, subject to continuous development in qualitative and quantitative terms. However, an important element in the functioning of the territorial formation is the social factor, and therefore also activities centred on helping local communities. This research article deals with impact of the Territorial Defence Forces on the sense of security of civilian military personnel in the area of Dęblin Garrison, as well as their perception of soldiers of territorial military service, such as in the context of usefulness to the interests of the state. For this purpose, as part of the research process, a survey questionnaire was used, which was distributed among employees of the Ministry of National Defence at the Ammunition Elaboration Plant Stawy (ZEA Stawy) – a subdivision of the 3rd Regional Logistics Base, located in the Dęblin Garrison. As regards scientific verification, a discussion was executed of results obtained from the empirical study, defining in detail the received data. In addition, the discussion part of the article compares the achieved results with the data contained in Wojciech Kwiatkowski’s doctoral dissertation entitled Udział 2 Lubelskiej Brygady Obrony Terytorialnej w kształtowaniu bezpieczeństwa lokalnego [Participation of the 2nd Lublin Territorial Defence Brigade in shaping local security], making a comparative analysis, and as an effect gaining knowledge of differences in perception of the territorial formation and its soldiers by civilian employees of the army and representatives of other social groups among local communities in Lublin Province. This publication can constitute extremely valuable reading for researchers of security sciences interested in the Territorial Defence Forces in social terms.
