Globalisation is perceived as a process that greatly influences various areas of people’s and societies’ existence. Information revolution and its social consequences are commonly discussed. Poverty grows - a general division into poor south and rich north is maintained on a global scale. Also the economic potential of supranational corporations - the main actors on international markets increases. It is a significant factor that influences the relations of power in democratic states. It is generally said about the dictatorship of new economy that is expressed in moving decision making from national government level onto a supranational one. The state’s main function is reduced to guarding peace and order on its own territory, which, in fact, questions the possibility to conduct effective economic, social, education and health policy. Losing part of the economic sovereignty of the state means a significant loss to perform independent financial aims from public means. In order to find an answer to the questions concerning future security policy, social phenomena such as creating a new elite and patterns of existence and activity, threats' awareness and the ways to deal with them should be researched. The mentioned above factors determine the quality of challenges in the area of strengthening the state defence and the security of people living in contemporary democracy. Improving security policy instruments - law and institutions that act on them, is also of great importance. This process is called the restructuring of the state security system. The globalisation syndrome - particularly economic repercussions of this process such as changes on job markets, the growth of interdependence and moving decision making centres outside the national level - may cause consequences that are difficult to foresee for personal and structural security areas. Thus changes undergoing currently may be perceived in categories of social revolution that can break out as a consequence of information revolution.
