The concept to use air force (AF) in joint operations is closely connected with air – land operation concept. It assumes conducting joint combat operations of selected air forces kinds whose main task is to gain air advantage. The basic principle to use AF in joint operations is to gain and maintain freedom of action. This principle, together with simultaneous synergy effect increase of joint armed forces operations must be analysed and agreed by both land and air (navy) forces' commanders. Organised and conducted land, air and navy operations must complement each other in order to minimise the losses and to search for economy of efforts, the plans of their waging must be adopted to real air situation. Gaining air advantage is the necessary success condition of joint land, air and navy operations. Therefore the effects of joint operations will be much higher if the enemy has to face a simultaneous land, air and naval forces' attack. A similar situation will occur when alliance (coalition) air strikes forces the enemy to disperse its forces and means and in this way will facilitate the friendly forces manoeuvre. Suggested new classification of bombers air force should significantly contribute to legible placement and definition of its tasks in joint operations.
