Evacuation risks for people with disabilities on the example of St. Anthony’s Hospital in Ząbkowice Śląskie
The article discusses the risk assessment of evacuation of people with disabilities in a situation of local hazards on the premises of St. Anthony Hospital in Ząbkowice Śląskie. Hazards that can trigger evacuation were identified, and in addition, the risk of evacuating people with disabilities was assessed, including reference ways of handling these risks. The topic of key differences in the evaluation of risks during evacuation was discussed, taking into account the aspect of different types of disabilities. People with a variety of disabilities require, first of all, an individual approach during evacuation, especially during a fire or other local emergency. This carries with it the need for tailored solutions that take into account special needs and limitations of evacuees, which plays a key role in guaranteeing the safety as well as the efficiency of evacuation operations. In this case, it mandates the introduction of rational evacuation strategies that take into account heterogeneity in relation to selfsufficiency. Such a targeted approach can guarantee a smooth and relatively safe evacuation.
