Calculation of Stress Intensity Factors For Cracks in Circular Bodies under Arbitrary „Mode I” Stress Fields
The method based on the two-dimensional weight function (WF2D) was applied for calculation of stress intensity factors (SIF) for semi-elliptical cracks under various MODE I stress distributions in circular bodies. Such cracks cannot be modeled efficiently with analytical or FEM methods - those methods can be used to validate results from WF2D program. Comparisons with results obtained from numerical methods show sufficient accuracy of the WF2D results for circular bodies. Further validation (also for more complex stress distributions) will be carried out soon.
