First aid for the wounded on the battelfield. Opportunities for exchange of experiences within the national emergency medical service

History shows that the atrocities of war necessitate appropriate remedial measures, both in terms of means of warfare and care for the victims. Military operations are not carried out in an environment isolated from civilians, and the latest conflicts, including in our immediate neighbourhood, highlight the huge number of wounded soldiers and civilians. This article presents changes taking place in the system of first aid provision to the wounded on the battlefield. It also outlines the possibility, or even the necessity, of transformations to most of the principles applied within the national emergency medical services. Alongside the practical application of “military” principles in general rescue operations, it is advisable to promote the principles and training in this field for mobilized medical personnel more widely, using specialized military institutions for this purpose. This article contains the latest data on the ongoing and planned changes in the organizational structures and medical equipment of the Polish Armed Forces.

Historia pokazuje, że okrucieństwa wojny wymuszają podejmowanie stosownych działań zaradczych zarówno w dziedzinie środków walki, jak i opieki nad ich ofiarami. Działania zbrojne nie są prowadzone w odizolowanym od cywilów środowisku, a najnowsze konflikty, w tym w naszym bezpośrednim sąsiedztwie, unaoczniają ogromne liczby rannych żołnierzy i osób cywilnych. Artykuł przedstawia zmiany zachodzące w systemie udzielania pierwszej pomocy rannym na polu walki i możliwość, a nawet konieczność transformacji większości ze stosowanych zasad do państwowego ratownictwa medycznego. Równolegle z praktycznym stosowaniem „militarnych” zasad w ratownictwie powszechnym wskazane jest szersze propagowanie zasad i szkoleń z tego zakresu dla mobilizowanej kadry medycznej, wykorzystując do tego celu wyspecjalizowane instytucje wojskowe. Artykuł zawiera jednocześnie najnowsze dane dotyczące prowadzonych i planowanych zmian w zakresie struktur organizacyjnych i wyposażenia medycznego Siłach Zbrojnych RP.
