Współspalanie biomasy z węglem: efektywne narzędzie polityki energetyczno-klimatycznej czy szkodliwa gra pozorów?
Co-firing of biomass with coal is an important element in fulfilling Poland’s obligations with regard to the share of renewable energy in total electricity consumption. The author argues that industrial biomass burning is contrary to the goals of climate policy. Co-firing of biomass with coal does not limit CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. In addition, the process is accompanied by an emission of dioxins and other pollutants. Systemic carbon blocks were designed to burn coal. The radical change of fuel to the mixture of coal and biomass negatively affects the technological process and the blocks’ condition deterioration. Although the technology has been shown as a rene wable energy source, co-firing of biomass with coal devastates the RES market in Poland.
