The article presents the most important functions of a PDM system that allow efficient information management in the company, and consequently the right reaction for the increasing demands of the market. It is shown that the implementation of PDM system provides a number of benefits for the company, with are: the use of available information in the company in order to increase productivity, reduction of costs associated with product's life cycle, enabling global collaboration and to providing the data view enabling better business decisions.
