Parks and gardens of military premises in the nineteenth-century central european military landscape – an attempt at a modern assessment

The art of designing green areas has overlooked and marginalised military and related aspects for various reasons, despite the fact that these aspects have concerned the army dwellings of millions of soldiers lodged in barracks, and squeezed to fit within the garrison architecture and the fortified space. This presentation constitutes an attempt to address these issues – the relationship between military green areas and urban design and architecture of historic spatial compositions – seldom analyzed and studied, whereas the aspect of the status, preservation, or creation of these spaces in the modern day remains an open and noteworthy question.

W sztuce kształtowania zieleni współczesny aspekt wojskowy i militarny był z różnych przyczyn zwykle pomijany i marginalizowany, chociaż dotyczył miejsc wojskowego życia milionów żołnierzy, skoszarowanych, wtłoczonych w ramy architektury garnizonowej oraz fortecznych przestrzeni. Niniejsza prezentacja jest próbą zmierzenia się z tą problematyką – relacji zieleni wojskowej z urbanistyką i architekturą historycznych już założeń, rzadko spotykaną i podejmowaną, której aspekt współczesnego bytu tych przestrzeni, ich konserwacji czy kreacji w dzisiejszej rzeczywistości nadal pozostaje otwarty i wymagający naszej uwagi.
