Kilka uwag na temat linii pasażerskich w Polsce w latach 1989-2006
The closures of passenger lines in Poland have been intensifying since 1989, when the transformation period began. The transition into capitalist economy was the first major factor forcing the qualitative and quantitative changes of railways; the other one was Poland’s accession into the European Union. The aim of this article is to show the qualitative and quantitative changes of passenger railways between 1989 and 2006. The length of lines, number of passenger-kilometers and line density were compared. Moreover, Polish passenger railway lines were presented as a graph and some indices were calculated. Finally, the changes to the number of railway nodes were presented.
