Logistyka – jak każda nauka czy dziedzina wiedzy – ciągle ewaluuje; pojawiają się nowe pojęcia, nowe obszary badawcze. Jednym z nich jest infrastruktura logistyczna. Problematyka infrastruktury logistycznej w zasadzie już weszła do kanonu podstawowych obszarów badawczych logistyki i poświęca się jej coraz więcej opracowań. Można jednak zauważyć, że rozważania dotyczące infrastruktury logistycznej mają naturę praktyczną, brakuje natomiast prób teoretycznego zmierzenia się z tą problematyką. Niewątpliwie pilną kwestią jest uporządkowanie kontekstu znaczeniowego pojęcia „infrastruktury logistycznej”.
