Problemy funkcjonowania przydomowych oczyszczalni ścieków z osadem czynnym - badania wstępne
The paper presents the preliminary results of functioning of two household sewage treatment plants with activated sludge. The plants studied are highly effective in pollutant removal from domestic sewage. In the plant operated for one year, the efficiency of removal of total suspended solids is 99%, and the efficiency of reduction of BZT5 and ChZT is 96% and 95% respectively. The plant is also capable to remove 80.5% of total nitrogen. One month is an insufficient period of time for such plants to create optimal conditions for them to function properly and for activated sludge to adapt. Low air temperatures adversely affect pollutant removal and consequently make sewage treatment in these systems less effective.
