The Kyoto Protocol introduced the mechanisms facilitating the fulfilment of the obligations in respect of reduction or restriction of greenhouse gasses emissions by the countries obliged to reduce or limit said emissions and the mechanisms providing the developing countries with the resources for economic and social development. Such mechanisms include: the JI mechanism (co-operation for the purpose of fulfilment of the emission reduction obligation by the countries listed in Annex I to the Convention), the mechanism of Clean Development (CDD) referring to the co-operation between the countries listed in Annex I and the countries not included in Annex I and the IET mechanism (trading in emission reduction surplus among the countries listed in Annex I).
