The fetish of ruin or revitalization of a monument?

Polish conservation doctrines use terms relating to ruin, most of which are undefined. Nineteenth-century conservation doctrines and the Venice Charter have long lost their relevance, and the restoration and reconstruction procedures of an architectural monument are still rare in Poland due to the fascination with 'permanent ruins'. Reconstruction as a response to the social demand for the care of monuments, refers to the possibility of contemporary use of a monument, and its value is not determined solely by the authenticity of the matter.

W polskich doktrynach konserwatorskich używa się pojęć dotyczących ruiny z których większość jest niezdefiniowanych. Dziewiętnastowieczne doktryny konserwatorskie i Karta Wenecka dawno utraciły swą aktualność, a zabiegi restauracji i rekonstrukcji zabytku architektonicznego są w Polsce nadal rzadkością z powodu fascynacji „trwałą ruiną”. Rekonstrukcja jako odpowiedź na społeczne zapotrzebowanie opieki nad zabytkami dotyczy możliwości współczesnego używania zabytku, a o jego wartości nie decyduje jedynie autentyczność materii.
